Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Deepest condolences Leo.

Akin to being given a bottle of whiskey, a pistol & told to "make it quick".

Just listening to Sean O'Rourke with panel on RTE radio. Mary Hannifin, ex FF minister and now councillor on the panel. She hasn't gone away you know! She's appearing with increasing frequency on media since she bullied her way back into local politics. I don't see many other local councillor's getting the same exposure or airtime ? Obviously with the blessing of the FF mothership, despite the local election selection issues !

Official announcement delayed until 1pm at the earliest. Pat Rabbitt must have locked himself in the ministerial toilet.

Has Ged ever had a job?

Has Ged ever had a job?

Never heard of him. Had to look him up on Wikipedia and even that only had four lines on him. Are we sure it isn't his mammy spreading the rumour of his promotion?

Why was Quinn replaced? I thought he had gotten (relatively) good press in the Education role.

The Dear Leaderess wanted to do a good old fashioned purge of the old regime to firmly establish her socialist credentials and Quinn jumped before he was pushed.

Is there such a thing as a TD who is a "former" teacher. I thought they were still teachers on secondement for 30+ years to the Dail.

Looks like James Reilly will be our new minister for children and public health, with special responsibility for tobacco and obesity.

    Fits the bill.

    good press?
not hard when two of his advisors are spin merchants from INM!

Heather Humphreys now rumoured to be promoted. Cue confused tones from the panel on Sean O'Rourke as they tried to figure out who Heather Humphreys was.

The whole thing is a farce. Just goes to show what an ineffectual leader we have in Enda Kenny.

Forrest Gump was likeable but I wouldn't have wanted him as Taoiseach either.

I never liked Forrest Gump, too Irish looking

Rumour machine has it that Mary Mitchell O'Connor is going to become a junior minister at the Dept of Transport with special responsibility for safe driving.

I wonder has James Reilly resigned altogether?

This delay is farcical - I wonder is Garth behind it all?

Why is a cabinet re-shuffle necessary?

    "The old order changeth"

People will think we are getting rid of the austerity culprits.

No they won't. Just wait for the next election. We won't forget.

What do you intend to do? Vote for Fianna Fail?

No way will I vote FF again but I won't vote Labour either. Plenty of good independents out there.

Pat Rabbitte's not very happy at being ditched in favour of 'a new generation'. In fairness, he is three months younger than Joan Burton, so he may have a point there.

I don't want to sound ageist or anything, but it's strange the current Labour leader (65) is older than the person who was leading the party 32 years ago (Dick Spring is 63).

Indecisive Enda is at it again. A completely unsuitable job for Reilly so he doesn't lose face too much, and a makey-uppy gig for Deenihan because Enda doesn't want to give him the elbow either. Coveney gets Fighting as well as keeping Farming.
A pointless exercise. The only good outcome was Varadkar getting Health.

Nowhere near Alberts night of the long knives!

Leo will be fun, barring that pretty much non news. How many super duper junior ministers with no vote at cabinet do we have?

Mad Men's Don Draper : What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons.

Who is replacing Brian Hayes? I don't see it mentioned anywhere.

Edit : I guess the new role for Ged Nash replaces the OPW role Hayes had.

Nope, Junior Ministers will be announced later or next week

The OPW role wasn't a "super junior" post

    incompetence rewarded
James Reilly -> new cabinet job
Phil "property tax" Hogan ->euro gravy train
    Alex White ->Cabinet Job
    -
No Doubt getting rid of Gilmore, Rabbitte, and Quinn can only be a good thing
    Charlie to Foreign Affairs
Jan to education can she undo the mess Quinn has made

Is the Cabinet now a Democratic Left free zone?

Why is Jan O'Sullivan being promoted? It's not as if her previous brief of Housing has been a roaring success

She's a woman. Joan wants to promote women for the sake of their gender. Be thankful for small mercies, though. There was talk of Kathleen Lynch being given the Education job. That would have been the ultimate irony.
