Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ill be starting college in TCD next month and am really worried that my family wont be able to afford it but I'm not even sure what needs to be paid!

I'm getting a susi grant I'm pretty sure and I'm eligible for HEAR so I'm hoping that covers some of it. After doing some research I found that there'll be a student contribution (2750) but does susi cover this?
Also are you automatically eligible for 'free fees'or do I have to apply?
And what does free fees cover?? Do I still have to pay to thousands of euro for my course even with free fees or does it cover it all??

sorry for the ramble just worried and didn't know who to contact on the tcd website

As an Irish/EU Citizen you're automatically covered by the free fees initiative which covers your tuition fees. After that, the student contribution of €2750 is generally paid. If you are getting a grant from SUSI, then they will pay this.

In your case, I think (but may be wrong) all you have to pay is the sports centre charge (€90 I think) and the USI levy (around €10 I think), but could be wrong on that.

You should check out the SUSI website. Depending on which income band your family's in, you'll receive partial or full "Student Contribution" remission and, potentially, a cash grant. "Tuition Fees" are free for all Europeans (who've lived in Ireland for three of last five years).

    Don't know about DARE benefits.

SUSI will your fees, depending on your income and what rate of grant you will get

If you're eligible for HEAR, this then becomes TAP when in the college, you'll hear plenty about this in the coming weeks. This year we got 2 cheques totalling 680 between them, and the amount that is given out depends on the funding they get, so you may get more or less this year
