Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Why would it include office if you are unlikely to be able to run it?

    I do agree that a proper laptop, even a cheap celeron is probably better.

    Absolutely clueless post. Utter nonsense.

    I've been running an atom tablet for around a year now, with Windows 8.1 and it's super. Great battery life (8+ hours), and fast! People talking about atoms as being woefully slow are living in the past, they are a very capable low power processor these days. Office is no bother, full 1080p videos no issue, any application I've thrown at mine it has flown through.

    As for storage, 32GB is limited, but a 64GB micro SD card is cheap for any docs/music/photos etc.

    This would be a great carry around device for college/lectures. I used a tiny netbook for a good while in college for assignments without any complaints.

    It's getting out of control lately. Someone in the laptops forum the other day said a an AMD A6-4400 2.7Ghz dual core would 'struggle' with word. When did Microsoft become the new Crysis for system benchmarks?! Must have missed that.

    Well whats pissing me off at the mo is that my super duper laptop (at the time 3 years ago) can't upgrade to windows 8 or indeed windows 7 SP1 because the laptop and/or graphics card manufacturer can't be bothered to release a graphics card driver that will work with it. My 10 year old desktop has no bother doing it. So buying bigger than what's needed to future proof your purchase might not be a great idea either.
    Rant over, sorry for hijacking, but that flippin laptop has been making me think I'm a retard for not being able to update it for months.

    Anyway to actually contribute to this thread I just looked and it seems it's gone up to £289 now.

    A 1.33 GHz quad core laptop for €300 with a legit version of Windows 8 on it?

    Anyhoos, OP; looks like a half decent thing. Consider getting a cheap keyboard if the keyboard on it is not full size, as you'll find it useful to type long documents.

    If you check- the 64Gb version is only a tenner more expensive than the 32Gb version. Also- the Atom processor is a quad core chip with turbo- its quite unlike any atom chip I've used before.

    The big issue with this- is its a 10" laptop that converts into a tablet.
    Its a decent tablet- and Windows 8.1 is actually quite reasonable as an OS on it.
    As a laptop however- its akin to a netbook- the keyboard is less than 3/4 size and there is over-travel on the keys.

    Its cheap- and its obviously being sold at damn near cost or possibly below cost- to try shift the units.

    Its a nice gadget- and at a very reasonable price- but don't kid yourself that "its for college"- it'll drive you nuts trying to type on it- and anyone with either an iPad or an Android tab will be laughing at your battery life on it.

    Personally- I'd get it. I'd also get a cheapo laptop for doing donkey work on. I've had a 10" and 12" in the past- and while they looked sexy as hell- they were a nightmare from a usability perspective.

    Its *not* a machine for doing your college work on.

    Just curious - if I charged this to full battery, then watched a full HD movie (2.5 hours), roughly how much battery would I have left?

    I'm wondering would it be good for long-distance travel abroad, where I like to watch movies and may not have time to charge it..

    This was a great deal when the OP posted it priced at £229 - £50 voucher but now that the deal is no longer available it might be worth considering some of the cheaper alternatives.

    There are for example many Windows 8.1 tablets coming out of China running the same processor as the one in the OP.

    Deal Extreme have for example a 8" Cube Windows 8 tablet for US$178 delivered, or this Pipo from Buyincoins for US$167 you will get caught for VAT and duty so I would guess that it will end up at around €175. There are 10" versions available also but the price rises steeply. Check Aliexpress etc.

    I have had a Cube Android tablet that my son uses and have been very happy with the build quality and it has lasted well, but the usual caveats apply when buying from China in terms of the difficult in getting repairs under warranty, bad chargers etc.

    I'm considering getting a Windows tablet but don't have one yet so do your own research as to what is good for you.
