where can i find mechanic to view the car i am buying?

    i need a mechanic to view the car i am interested in.
    can i walk in to any garage and ask for a mechanic?
    AA have this facility but charge 250euros for a used car inspection.
    how much does a normal mechanic charge?
    what do they check in the car?
    is there a standard check list they go through?

    Where are you based? I'm getting a car checked in the morning for €30 but the car is being dropped off at the garage.

    is it possible for a mechanic to check if the mileage is changed?
    how can we ensure the mileage on the odometer is the correct one?
