Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Also calling her neighbour a snob on air. Does Prendeville contact him to stir the pot to get things going?

I've no idea who this guy is but Joe Duffy had him on yesterday. He was ranting on about the Bertie Ahern incident and he doesn't like the Labour party.

Hes on the Neil Prenderville Show now having a rant at a councillor and hes doing an outdoor protest in the northside of Cork.

    Its pure radio gold :D

The councillor came on the radio and called him a "blabbermouth" and a "clown".

Prenderville challenged John to run for the local election and he declined.

    The reverse call plan ;)

Prendeville seems to be doing a lot of talking to himself these days, must be an indicator that his listeners haven't played with the knob :D

He's getting great mileage on the airwaves altogether this week. Every flippin' station I tune into he's on it.

    Some tulip is John O'D!

How (if he's not working) can he claim DSP payment/ Surely being a professional protestor makes him unavailable for work? And a man that clearly despises the government and its institutions is hardly going to accept money from the state?

    Thats a good point.

Somebody should rat him out :D

    Does he work

Nope. He was questioned by a caller on 96fm who was fed up of him being on every station she tuned into.

When she asked if he was working he stuttered and said "Painter & Decorator"

Yeah! He is in his ****!!!

If he put more of his energy into looking for employment instead of ringing up every radio station in the country, surely he'd qualify for a CE scheme since he's long term unemployed.

I had an image of him in my head and after a quick search on Google there he looked exactly how I thought he'd look. Fond of the sunglasses to it seems!

John got a mention on the Irish Independent about the water meter protest.

    http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/standoff-between-irate-families-and-irish-water-workers-enters-second-day-30209426.html
Another protestor, John O’Donovan of the Campaign Against Home and and Water Taxes, said the peaceful demonstration was an example of how "people power can triumph."

"We stood and blocked them while their were digging. They have no consent from any of the householders to do this," he said.

"Basically what they are doing is pushing contracts on people and it is a one-sided contract."

"They have no permission given by anyone...to be putting meters outside people's homes. They are pushing this on us without even asking for permission to do so".

In the video hes the one in the white cap and sunglasses.

MAN DOWN ........John O Donovan is on Red fm now with Neil Prenderville and is down, claims an Irish water employee pushed a barrier at him and an ambulance is at the scene... Hope he isint too seriously injured or he wont be able to go on other stations today (Neill seems to be taking it all very lightheartedly) dunno why.
Maybe this will qualify him for a disability allowance?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,095 ✭✭✭Expunge

    Claim coming, no doubt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,055 ✭✭✭Red Nissan

John is martyr to the cause as he lays on the ground injured and talking live to Red FM.

Ambulance on the way, Gardaí on the way, major accident plan alert on yellow.

Joe might have him on Lavelahn later to recount the full horrific story, leaving out no detail.

He's a bit of a nut, I wonder was it the fall or the radiation from the meters that inured him. Actually, maybe he just got his phone bill after the various researchers on the phone in shows stopped calling him.

Ah c'mon he's standing up for what he believes in. Society would be very boring if we were all the same.

I don't think he actually believes in all these causes he associates himself with, it's just something for him to do by all accounts.

Can somebody organise an e-get well soon card for poor aul John.

I have a feeling that John likes to think of himself as the Irish equivalent of the student standing in front of the tank in Tiananmen Square.

He was on 96fm this morning voicing his disgust on a female candidate wearing fishnet designed tights.

Pj Coogan was bombarded with texts slamming John, one listener labelled him a "sexist dinosaur".

A few people threatened to tune in to Red Fm if they hear John O Donovan on 96fm again but PJ pointed out that hes on all the radio stations that do live phone in's.

Absolutely, it works fine for two texts, it crashes after that, hence the 'bombardment' mentality.
