Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ah no, you weren't being a smart áss, you were right, I should have checked myself before posting - well, I learnt something new today - even if it turned out it was a case of bad spelling after all....

Carousal would have been a great name for a pub, though.

There's a shop called 'Glamour' in a village near mine, it's run by a Chinese family - the funny part is that the heading on their receipts reads 'Gramour'... I have a sneaky feeling they must've done it on purpose... :)

Chinese visted lots of places but were never really interested in colonising foreign shores by force like the Europeans.
Rumoured that they were in Oz a few hundred years before it was 'discovered' for example.

If I recall correctly those bigger ships fare worse on the open ocean as they can't handle rough seas as well as the smaller European ones.

It would make sense that the Chinese could island hop all the way down as far as Australia though.

I do think that poor, poor bear has a bad case of mange... he must be in agony, itching like mad... :(
It doesn't look like someone shaved him, and I don't think it's photoshopped either, even though I'd love to be wrong about it.

It's a sketch on the Fast Show about a foreign language (Spanish-ish) news program. Every few words there was something recognisable in English and Boutros Boutros Ghali, who died recently, was a common one.

    In a sixth-form girl's dormitory?

At three o'clock in the morning?

    With my reputation?

    What were they thinking of?
