    Hi All,
Not a lot of experience in these things, I'm looking to buy a new 42" and was looking at the LG 42LB561V in Currys (I havent enough posts to let me add links yet....)
    Save 270 quid it says.

Cant find any reviews of that specific model so I'm wondering could anyone see why this wouldnt be a good bargain?

I could just smart it up with Chromecast?

Currys/PC World have their own model numbers, that prevents you from doing a direct comparison with other retailers, it also allows them to offer what is effectively a meaningless 'price guarantee' whereby they will offer to match or better the price from another retailer selling the same model for less.

They can make any claims for '€xxx off' since nobody else sells that exact model so you really need to ignore that rubbish.

You're asking if it's a bargain without telling us the price

It's in the ballpark, this is a similar model in Power City for 450 ...

    http://www.powercity.ie/?par=10-13-42LB550

This is the model in Currys you're looking at ....

    http://www.currys.ie/Product/lg-42lb561v-42andrdquo-led-tv/321522/6.9.3

They both look ok, my only concern is that they only have 2 x HDMI ports so if you hook up a DVD/Blu-Ray player and a UPC/Sky box, that's the two ports gone - what happens if you want to connect a games console (PS3/Xbox), Apple TV, Chromecast or a digital camera for a slideshow?

Yep looks like not a lot to choose between those two except the 29 quid.

Hadnt considered only two HDMI ports as a problem (embarrassingly late going HD...) but I see what you mean.

Had a quick look through a few other models in both power city and currys and two seems a bit standard for 42" non-smart anyway. Will keep looking though or go in shop and have a chat with someone.

thanks for all advise, and for pointing out what they where up to with the part numbers and "discounts". Sneaky gits.
