Im thinking of ordering a high-end gaming PC from http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/.

Just wondering what are peoples experiences of them?

The reason I want to go with them is that Alienware are far too expensive and don't even stock the latest graphic cards such as the Geforce 980TI and no ram faster than DDR4 2133mhz available.

Custom PC have insane prices off the scale and OverclockersUK are also quite expensive and charge only in sterling.

Has anyone here bought a system from PCSpecialist, I read that if something goes wrong that their collect and return policy does not apply to Ireland and read some bad reviews about customer service and faulty pc on arrival?

I have only used them once, had no problems... Can comment on their collect and return service!

    I would use them again.

Have had a few friends buy their custom laptops. All have had a decent experience. One friend is currently talking to them about a replacement battery and another had a motherboard failure after 1.5 years, haven't heard what the result of either query has been though.

the consus in this thread will be buy and build yourself, you will probably save 30% by doing that, have a look on https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/ put what you want together and then spec similar from any prebuild shop to see the difference, even if you are not comfortable in building yourself someone here would be only too happy to help put the rig together if you have the parts!

had a look at that website its very good, Whats the story with buying from the UK where they only charge in £ sterling, do the credit card companies charge extra on top of the sterling to euro conversion? Is it best to stick with websites that charge in euros?

I get not wanting to build a pc. Time constraints yadda yadda fear of making a mistake. And here comes the bleh lecture....
its the only way to get thw best value/performance pc.

Orrrr finding a good one on adverts. Seen a few good deals there from what seem like decent sellers.

All depends where you get the best value really eg the 980ti hybrid works out at £720 on Amazon uk right now but on geizhals.de it's €785 or on Amazon.it it's €835! Part picker is great for checking part compatability or rough uk prices then check elsewhere ie geizhals to decide where you get the best value!
Personally I'm upgrading to a 980ti soon and will probably buy from one of the European Amazon stores, it's like and extra €40 but for my own piece of mind I think it's worth it.
If buying from Amazon uk you normally get the euro price to be charged before completing the purchase
