Line E was going to be the tunnel section in the city centre (roughly the underground equivalent of BX and part of D). When it was superseded by Metro, the letter wasn't reused.

Line F really looks like a disaster waiting to happen - all the bad points of the Red line with no redeeming features.

True, but what can you do - no corridor was reserved. Which is particularly inexcusable for the Lucan Village - M50 section , which is mainly a newly developed area. They could have left strips of land alongside roads easily while housing was being built.

And you know the funny thing is that I'm sure the developers would even be very happy to leave land free for the Luas, knowing full well that if the Luas was going to be developed alongside their developments that it would increase the sale price.

This is why we need to start planning for new Luas lines all over Dublin and Cork, Limerick, Galway, etc. now and retain the land, even if the lines aren't built for another 50 years.

What an oversight by people like the late Liam Lawlor and his colleagues!

Does it surprise you that the LLL and others were not far-sighted enough to think about the future public transport options for people living in Lucan and elsewhere in their manor?

Sure didn't they have wallets to stuff?

not build it - its a waste of money. A bus corridor would deliver the same benefits. or park&ride on either of the rail lines that pass near Lucan and money diverted to the interconnector which will massively increase capacity on these lines.

Seriously - the Red line is already slower than the bus in the city centre - Line F will be that bad for its entire length.
