what kind of laptop - how old ?

it maybe something simple . some laptops have a switch on the side and function key and f2 usually enable/disable the wireless ?

is your wifi present in the bottom right hand corner ?

is it visable/enabled in your bios ?

it could be the wifi card .. replacement can cost just a few bucks on ebay . can usually be swapped out fairly easily .....

you say "had it checked says laptop is fine" - checked by what?

have u tried switching on and off the router you are trying to connect to?
