Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Help with orphaned Hare!

    we just found a hare at the back of the house that a stray cat dropped off. He's shivering slightly with a small wound from the cat. we have him indoors now in a box with hay.

    should we just let him go again or make sure he's ok?

    our house is surrounded by fields but never seen any hares this close to the house!

    any advice on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated! :)

    I'd take him to a vet. He could easily get an infection from the wound, because cat bites can cause bad infections :(

    A vet should treat him for free really, because he's a wild animal.

    Definitely vet as cat bites can be lethal to an animal that small.

    How is he today?
    I would try the vet, if he seems well release him nearby, away from the road, early morning is best time, 5 or 6 am, that's when I see them out and about.

    If he's still small then he'll need bottle feeding, best contact your vet/ local rescue and see if you can find someone with experience handraising wildlife.

    I've handreared 3 hares in the past, gorgeous wee things.
