Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Suddenly I have no sound

    I gave my laptop to my housemate for a week to use. And now, I have no sound. I know I should probably just run after her and attack her but I thought I'd ask first to see if there's anything I could do. It just says 'No audio output device is installed'. This is a pretty new laptop, it's a Samsung Q102, and I really don't want to have a laptop with no audio device.

    Is there anything I can do? Any help would be much appreciated!

    found this with my computer aswell before....any software you downloaded that might be dodgy like a torrent downloader?delete it and it should work...otherwise...start/control panel/adjust volume...sometime it decides to turn itself down. let me know if either of these work for you..she might also have deleted your sound output such as realtek

    Have you gone into the sound settings in control panel, see if anything is muted!

    If you go into the settings and you cant access the settings you my need to reinstall the driver which you will find on the samsung website.

    i would think its just that your audio driver files somehow became corrupted or the audio device was uninstalled by accident. you can download a program called driver magic available here:

    this program once installed will scan your system and give you a report on your missing devices and the links to the software that you can download to make your audio device work again... ;)

    if you could check your model number again and see if it is "Q210", running windows vista, then here is the files you need:

    It's definitely not torrents. I don't have any of them. Nothing is muted as it's not your usual yellow line through the sound symbol it's a red cross.
    I've gone into Control Panel - Sound etc. but again, when I go to devices, it says there are none installed!
    Next I'll try those drivers and the programme someone suggested I download.

    Worst comes to the worst, kick it back to a previous date in Restore (a date before you handed it over).
    It might help!

    Also try Tune-up Utilities 2009.
    Install the 15 day full ability demo. That should get it sorted. Select the "one click fix" in it.

    Once you run it, don't forget to reboot.

    That last one, the Tune Up programme seems to have done the trick. Once I rebooted it did its little Windows sounds and it's all good again.
