    Hello

I'm thinking about buying a VW Jetta 2007. Does anyone have any experience with them or heard of any problems?

Same basic car as the Golf, so same huge differences in opinion about whether they're great cars, or overpriced rubbish.

Are you looking at petrol or diesel?

Not really when you add VRT of around €2,700 on top of that price, your then talking close to €17.5k.

Here is an Irish one for over a grand less:

Ok that example has slightly higher mileage but I would not pay over €1k of a premium for a few less miles on the clock which is nothing for a diesel.

I dont think there would be a whole lot of difference in price between a base jetta TDI and a base Passat TDI.The passat is a lot better looking IMO, has a smoother ride and has ESP as standard which, afaik, the jetta in this country, has'nt

I don't think its cheap enough relative to a Passat to make it worthwhile.

Good sturdy car on the road. Prone to electrical problems like all new VW's seem to be. The 1.6 engine sounds like something you'd expect to find on some agricultural machinery. It's not a bad car, and it'll probably hold value better than an equivelant Astra. I think to compare it to a Passat is nonsense, they're two completely different classes of car. Kind of like comparing caramel with strawberries.

Explain how these are so radically different. The Jetta is a Golf with a boot. A medium Saloon. The Passat is a slightly bigger saloon. Engines are the same, most interior parts and gear is the same. Your paying almost the same, but the Passat is bigger, and I expect lots of people will think its much more expensive than the Jetta, and thus resale will be better on the Passat. Mind you the Passat is very common where as the Jetta isn't.

    Base Jetta 1.4 TSI 122BHP €24,800
    Base Passat 1.4 TSI 122BHP €26,760
    Difference €1960

    Front Fog Lights

Extras on the Jetta not on Passat

16" Toronto Alloy Wheels, (Passat has 16" Steel Wheels)

Door Mirrors (body Coloured With Integrated Indicator Repeaters)
