Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

"Angry much?" Where does that annoying phrase come from?

I see a lot of people saying things like "angry much?" on facebook and here. There is another example of it on a thread where someone says "stepbrothers much?". It doesn't make sense and it's annoying. Is in nerdy internet speak or is it an American/British affectation?

Does anyone know the origin of it?

    Thanks

I know what it means. I've never heard it said that way in real life, and I only noticed it being typed that way fairly recently. I don't like it at all. I read it with a snide, passive aggressive, narky tone though, maybe that's not what people mean.

I dont know where it came from, when it got here, or who started it. But get rid of it.

    Yours sincerely,
    Angry much.

I think "(insert word) much?" comes from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Which makes it OK with me. :D

    Where does the annoying phrase
"But don't let the facts get in the way of ...." come from?

Usually posted by some absolute tosser who had just spent an entire morning googling rubbish just to disprove some other anonymous person's assertation.

It's a way of underscoring people's ignorance on a topic.

That's kinda been happening since the enlightenment in case you didn't notice. Evidence and proof trump baseless assertions each and every time.

But don't let the facts stand in the way of your dearly held prejudices.

(and I didn't even have to 'google' the above)

One can post facts, disprove assertions and win an argument without being a smug prick also.

I've seen the word 'much' get taken out of copntext a lot like 'rude much' and 'happy much'. I'm assuming its another west coast of USA abuse of the English language thats now infiltrating the vernacular over here

Yes and people don't have to act like a a chastised 4-year-old when they've been shown to be incorrect or lacking in knowledge on a subject.

You use it when you want to sound like a passive-aggressive twat.
