Any idea when the mackeral Run hits Kinsale Co. Cork? Hubby wants to teach the 2young boys how to fish but is unsure as to when to best try.

Not really any such thing as a mackeral run. They come in and go when they want. They can be in for a week and gone for 2. July-September has the best chance of getting them tho.

Normally tend to hit Cork areas around late August early September. Can be sporadic but keep an eye on the shorelines around late summer and you should be able to catch a few.
I remember using a hurley to scoop mackerel out of the cambers in Cobh back in the 80's!!! Didn't even need a rod or line as they would be on a run for weeks in the late summer.
I presume that Kinsale would be on similar timeframe as when the mackerel hit Cork harbour.
