Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey

    I recently bought a Red 07 Accord

It had a few white spots on the passenger side skirt which were bothering me but never got round to touching up till someone marked and chipped paint off the rear right bumper in a car park :o
so I got the finger out and got my color code R81 Milano red paint made up in halfords.. happy days... :D not quite

I masked off the flakes / white spots on the side skirt and applied the paint :)
when I removed the tape... it took HUGE parts of the paint with it ...making my original problem allot worse
I figure when it was sprayed in the garage it was minus some adhesive as the rear and rest of the car has no flaws or blemishes.

IM curious to know with the car been red and hearing paint matching horror stories, if I get it resprayed

1] will it be different to the car door ..

2]where would be recommended to get it done.. IM near swords

    and

3] anyone any idea how much it would be...

    Thanks for reading

    Al

Did you prep the surface at all?

Ideally you should get rid of the rough edges where the paint has chipped using a light grit (2000) wet and dry sandpaper. Then it's time to wipe dry and clean the area with alcohol wipes or pre-paint.

Then comes the primer, some sanding, paint, maybe some sanding, then lacquer.

From your post, it seems as though you just masked up the affected area and sprayed the paint on.

It also sounds like you masked up an area that was affected under the surface, hence why paint came away with the tape.

the hole side skirt seems to be ready to flake..

i didnt use a spray, my probem was only a few white areas the size of say a small finger nail.. so I used the a small brush, I did use alcohol to clean .. but now its a professional job, My Michael Angelo painting skills are not attempting a take 2 but thats for the feedback
