Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Subwoofer for Vauxhall Astra

    Hi all,

I am thinking of buying my girlfriend some decent speakers/subwoofer for her car. She recently bought a 2008 Vauxhall Astra 1.9CTDI SRI and although the car is powerful, the sound system is not.

Can anybody suggest something suitable for a maximum of €150? She listens to a lot of choral music so needs good clear sound.

    Thanks :)

Not sure if you'd need a sub for choral music. Mids and tweeters I'd imagine.

Have you messed around with the audio settings (fader, balance, eq settings)

Thanks for that, yeah we tried adjusting the settings but I reckon it's just a poor sound system. A friend has said that adding any aftermarket goodies would do more harm than good so she may just have to leave it :-(

If you match good speakers to the system it should help. But you need to match them.

You need to work out what your willing to spend and what your factory radio is capable of.

I got a way with a couple of decent speakers and 2 6X9s for years.

They have to be matched to the head. After-market is fine if you buy good quality that matches your need.

That does depend on the quality of the head unit two.
