Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

2005 530i coolant temp & oil sensor accuracy

2 questions for BMW heads here...

    1. I enabled the display for coolant temperature, and it went up to 93-96, with highs of 101 which quickly goes down to 93 again...

After an oil change with 0w30 , the temp goes to 99 degrees after a bit of spirited driving, then down to 78... And hovers around 85 degrees in normal driving .. is this good/bad/indifferent? Looks like the cooling is more efficient now...

    2. How reliable is the oil sensor for the iDrive display? Before the oil change, it indicated 2 bars (out of 5), then after a few days, 5/5, then 2 days later, 0/5 and I topped up with 1l of 5w30...

After the oil change (6l, not 6.5 as in the manual), same day it showed 5/5 bars, next day 2/5, now a week later, 3/5... I expect it'll go up to 5/5 then suddenly it realizes I need a top up?? Can/should the sensor be replaced? I don't have a dipstick.

    Thanks.
