Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A bit of a laugh pity its not on a proper channel
Former Manchester United team-mates Lee Sharpe and Dennis Irwin have become the first name on their nation's respective teamsheets for The Legends: England v Republic of Ireland which takes place at Fulham Football Club's Craven Cottage on Thursday October 9th, kicking off at 7.45pm.

Sharpe will be making his fourth appearance in an England Legends jersey. The 37-year old former United midfielder, who has already scored twice for The England Legends, earned a Cup Winners' Cup medal at Old Trafford before moving on to Leeds for £4.5m in 1996. He has played for the England national team on eight occasions.

England Legends Manager Peter Reid confirmed: "Sharpey is an important member of the England Legends and gives us real mobility on that left hand side. He was one of the players to come out of the Germany game with real credit, grabbing the only England goal. I know he's desperate to get England back to winning ways against Ireland."

42-year old Dennis Irwin made 56 appearances for his country, including two USA '94 starts, as well as 368 appearances for Manchester United where he won the Champions League trophy, Cup Winners Cups, seven Premiership titles, three FA Cups and one League Cup. Irwin also played for Leeds United, Oldham and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 2008 Legends Series The Legends: England v Republic of Ireland is the third game in The England Legends' 2008 Legends Series. The England Legends beat The Scotland Legends 2-0 at St. Mary's Stadium Southampton on Thursday May 15th and lose 5-1 to The Germany Legends. The game is the sixth in England Legends history. The Legends have also drawn 3-3 and lost 5-1 to The Italy Legends and beaten The Rest of the World Legends 4-2.

The Legends: England v Republic of Ireland will compete for The Johnny Haynes Memorial Cup in a game which will be screened live on ITV4 from 7pm.

Anyone got the full line ups?

    Mike

Unless it only works up North you can stream ITV4 from the ITV website.

Irwin played for Leeds? Never knew that.

Also crazy that he had fewer caps at full-back than Kevin 'no disrespect but' Kilbane.

Yep, he started at Leeds and was sold by Billy Bremner. Not the greatest piece of transfer business the club has ever done. Bremner also sold Terry Phelan the same season.

The England team certainly looks the better equipped but who knows what kind of training they've all been keeping up since they retired. Seems strange to have Sheringham in there, no? I know he's 49 but still he was playing top-level football only a few months ago.

A good few of that Irish team aren't even close to warranting the legend tag.

3-3 with a minute to go. Looks like penalties...

Nigel Winterburn scores the winning penalty :)

Is that McGoldrick? He looks as fat as ever.

How come England have appeared to have a got a real team together but we're thowing in "never was's" like Owen Coyle, Liam O'Brien, Kelham O'Hanlon etc? I guess fair play to them for getting 3-3 with players like that.

You don't know him? He's the goalie who the ITV blurb boast "never condeded a goal for Ireland". What they may have forgotten to mention was it was mainly cos he only ever played one game for us, a one sided friendly at Dalymount Park most noteable for the debut of Chris Morris and David Kelly.

One of them got a single cap in a 1993 friendly against Holland (IIRC)

Cant wait for the 2030 legends match. Sean St Ledger and Joe Lapira vs a Jimmy Bullard captained team :pac: Maybe Stephen Ireland will make a guest appearance.

Only caught the last, cracking move for our third. Found myself roaring during the penos :p

It's possible. After all they predict to have a cure for hair loss by then.
