Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

(this may need to be moved, i feel it may be of some use and/or interest to some here)

    http://onesickmother.typepad.com/my_weblog/2009/07/spah-the-medical-scam-clearinghouse.html

I’ve just been reading the blog linked above called “One Sick Mother” and am amazed at the absolute ruthlessness of some of the herbal medicine companies that OSM has mentioned. It would appear there is a large industry based around scamming people with serious and not so serious illness’ out of their money. There’s quite a large list of companies on the blog site please go have a look.

Here’s an example of one particular companies carry on…

According to their website here’s the ingredients for Gordon’s Herbal Research Centre’s treatment and cure for , wait for it… Motor Neuron Disease, I kid you not. (I do realize that MND is actually a term used to describe a range of disorders).

    Anyway see here.

    http://www.troneton.com/ingredients.html

Based on their efficacy to treat Motor Neuron Disease extracts from the followings herbs are combined together in specific quantities in the formula:

    Rheum Rhabarbarum 41.8 mg
    Indian Olibanum Tree 16.3 mg
    Torchwood Tree 12.3 mg
    Ginger 16.3 mg
    Operculina turpelthum 142.5 mg
    Scammony 38 mg
Been suffering from Motor Neuron Disease? Well, no need to suffer any more…..

…..So what do the results tell us? An astonishing 92% complete roll back of the disease after using Troneton without a single side effect!

In the odd event that Troneton does not work for you (which could also be due to wrong diagnosis of your condition in the first place), Troneton comes with a full 30 days money back guarantee!

    http://www.flameton.com/index.html

Based on their efficacy to treat Flatulence extracts from the followings herbs are combined together in specific quantities in the formula:

    Rheum Rhabarbarum 41.8 mg
    Indian Olibanum Tree 16.3 mg
    Torchwood Tree 12.3 mg
    Ginger 16.3 mg
    Operculina turpelthum 142.5 mg
    Scammony 38 mg
Been suffering from Flatulence? Well, no need to suffer any more...

....So what do the results tell us? An astonishing 92% complete roll back of the disease after using Flameton without a single side effect!

In the odd event that Flameton does not work for you (which could also be due to wrong diagnosis of your condition in the first place), Flameton comes with a full 30 days money back guarantee!

Do we see the pattern here? Other treatments also cure , Hidradenitis Suppurativa, Sjogrens Syndrome, Inclusion Body Myelitis, Benign Essential Tremor, Lichen Planus, Hydrocele, Granuloma Annulare and Burning Mouth Syndrome.

Other wonder companies to note are Oslo Health Solutions, Healing Plants Limited.
    Please check out the blog.

The vast majority of alternative medicine are scams in truth. I spent thousands over the years before I learned not to be so bloody guillible. Now I look for clinical evidence for everything. It's amazing how even supposedly reputable doctors will try to scam people.

One GP I went to recently advertised as specialising in fibromyalgia. He charged me €195 for a one hour consultation and sent me for blood tests in St. Vincents and the Blacrock clinic which cost another €90. During that first session before he had any results at all he was talking about giving me "Myers Cocktail Infusions " every three weeks at a cost of €190 per session. Myers are one of the biggest scams out there. Needless to say I didn't go back.

Reputable clinics in the UK also prescribe these vitamin infusions for fibro patients. I think some medics are prone to confirmation bias and just don't pay any attention to evidence. Others are just out to make money of the desperation of people with long term illness. It's easy to be fooled by a nice bedside manner into thinking someone genuinely wants to help.

Another interesting book on the same vein as Bad Science (a fantastic read, btw!) is Suckers by Rose Shapiro.

If alternative medicine worked, it would just be called medicine.

Alternative practitioners are no better than fraudulent psychics taking money from gullible people who want to talk to their dead relatives. In fact they're worse - the psychics won't encourage you to stop seeing the doctor by alleging that real medicine "doesn't know it all".

Here's another to add to the start of this blog:

    Essential Tremor Remedy:

    http://betneton.com/ingredients.html

Based on their efficacy to treat Benign Essential Tremor extracts from the followings herbs are combined together in specific quantities in the formula:

    Rheum Rhabarbarum 41.8 mg
    Indian Olibanum Tree 16.3 mg
    Torchwood Tree 12.3 mg
    Ginger 16.3 mg
    Operculina turpelthum 142.5 mg
    Scammony 38 mg

    It also claims:

"Betneton is one of the very few Benign Essential Tremor products, if not the only one, that is fully based on scientific research. Betneton's powerful natural formula is backed by clinical research and trials extending over eight years and conducted in accordance with FDA regulations as well as the New Zealand health authority.

So what do the results tell us? An astonishing 92% complete roll back of the disease after using Betneton without a single side effect!

In the odd event that Betneton does not work for you (which could also be due to wrong diagnosis of your condition in the first place), Betneton comes with a full 30 days money back guarantee!"

I think this recipe actually cures 'aging'. I willing to bet the farm 92% effectiveness to actually reverse the aging process.

Here's the great thing about the web - you can start with the needle and find the haystack...
    Look at these web sites.
    http://www.celdeton.com/
    http://www.flameton.com/
    http://www.betneton.com/
    http://www.troneton.com/

All contain the following to cure every nuisance known to man.
    Rheum Rhabarbarum 41.8 mg
    Indian Olibanum Tree 16.3 mg
    Torchwood Tree 12.3 mg
    Ginger 16.3 mg
    Operculina turpelthum 142.5 mg
    Scammony 38 mg

    SURPRISINGLY SCAMMONY ISN'T SPELLED SCAM-MONEY

Well one of the new scams is passing off legit medicine as alternative/'natural'. One case was a place selling strong steroid cream for skin conditions claiming to be all natural. So people were slapping it on without a care, it can thin skin and many would avoid steroid creams as they can make conditions worse.

Similar to those "all natural" smoking herbs that were in head shops, which turned out to be chemical synthetic cannabis. The trick is when they declare everything is all natural then people are less likely to investigate.

The people were able to sell prescription steroids and customs would not spot them. And they did appear to work.

hmmm well maybe indeed a lot of the herbal medicine is bullcrap.

    but NOT all of it.

remember that all drugs come from plants.

cocaine from coco leaves, morphine from poppies, LSD from magic mushrooms, benzo's from kava(maybe not exact),etc.
even Meth can be traced back to the ephedra plant.

and the thing is, in Ireland they banned a lot of herbs, Ireland is the ONLY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD that has St.John's Wort banned (the IMB told brain crown about it, so clearly the IMB gave him money to pass the law), AND WHERE DO THE IMB GET THEIR MONEY?. from the people of Ireland. it shows you how ****ed up it really is. truly. they also banned Kava.

Eh, no, it's not. SJW isn't 'banned' in Ireland. It is prescription only, but it's not banned.
