Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi everyone;

    Does anyone know what times the Tara mines trains go to the Port? I'm going to be in the city tomorrow, might go get a video or something on the mobile phone.

    The first train enters the port anytime from 11:30-12:00, depends if it gets delayed by an IWT liner in the yard. The next is around 14:30-15:00 I think. The last one is from around 19:30-20:00. Open to correction on the later trains but the first is accurate.

    Dublin port security are very iffy about taking photos and videos around the port and tramway area so watch out and be prepared to be asked to stop or leave the area.

    About the best place to video is at the level crossing as it leaves North Wall yard, even. Stand on the port side and you should get a good view of the movement from a public road.

    Could someone double-check the times please?

    Especially the last train of the day, I'm in the city for work and I've tried at various times to catch it after work during last week and earlier today, various times from 6PM to 8:30PM and had no luck :(

    Again, just to be clear, I am interested in the schedule at the Dublin Port end of things.

    The last train arrives from Drogheda around 21:15.

    The earlier departure from the port basically goes when it's ready to go and when there is a slot available - it does not adhere to the timetable. It's frequently waiting to join the Northern line around 17:30, but is not scheduled to go until 19:30.

    It's down to pot luck I'm afraid.

    The early evening Tara normally is shunting down at Alexandra road between 3.30pm and 4.30pm. It normally heads up to East Wall Junction and waits for the road for some time. It could be there for nearly 3 hours some evenings!

    However they normally slip it out at around 1745 like this evening with 082.

    The later one arrives 2030 to 2100, does its business at the terminal, loco then goes to Connolly for fuelling, heads back to its train and usually follows the last Drogheda and Dart out, but sometimes gets away earlier.

    One Tuesday morning about 4 weeks ago I was around North Wall at 9:00 and I saw a tara rake of 10-11 stabled in the run around siding beside some HOBs. No locos around except for the 201 on the IWT on eastwall road. Thought that was a bit odd. It wasn't the Tuesday after a bank holiday either. Seems the last empties on Monday night didn't run and were left in the yard.

    There is night work going on somewhere on the Northern Line at the moment. What likely happened was that the late Tara came up to Dublin, dropped off the Ore and stabled the wagons in North Wall. Driver took the loco to Connolly and travelled home to Drogheda. Then the next morning the Drogheda man would travel to Connolly pick uo his loco, collect the Taras and head for Navan.

    I have seen many a Tara train go out in the morning 0800 - 1000 after a night possession.
