Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Speed comparison: Additional webservice parameters Vs database query by Webservice

Using WCF and SQL Server 2008 with a Silverlight project. I'm moving code from the Silverlight application to a Web service. Response speed is a consideration.
I can pass data as parameters, or retrieve the data from the database.
    It might boil down to:
    • 3n simple database queries, and parameters size of Web service increased by n GUIDs.
    or
    • Parameter size increased by collection of n * (1-5 objects consisting of 5 doubles). No database access.
Where n is 1 or more (unlikely to be above 10 I think).
I would expect that the former (adding database queries and reducing parameter size) would be the better option? Correct?

Not enough info for anyone to give a reasonable answer. Why not actually profile this?
