Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Water pressure pump needed for Shower

    Hi - we have a solar collector and should have had a water pump put in when we had it installed as the gravity fed pressure on our shower in the bathroom is upstairs is pretty poor and we like to use it as much as possible.
    Here is what I think I need - a water pressure pump added just to the hot water supply of our bathroom bath (which also has the shower) hot supply feed. The pump would activate when the the hot water is drawn in the shower / bath.
    We are in a 3 bed-semi in Dublin and also have an attic conversion (which is where the cold water tank is which feeds into the immersion / hot water tank).
    2 questions - any one recommend someone who can do this and secondly, any idea of what price this would be?

    Why would you only want to pump the hot water? Your shower will not be balanced. I'm pretty sure you mean you want hot and cold pumped.

    As for pricing, I'm guessing any plumber would need to see the house.

    A proper assessment could only be given by actually looking at your plumbing arrangements and then the best options can be worked out for you.

    yes, sleeper you're correct. What I would like would be to have the pump enabled only for the Shower and not being enabled everytime a tap was turned on or a toilet was flushed - might be as simple as a manual switch which be turned on (for the pump) before using the shower.

    In terms of cost, was wondering really in what ballpark getting a pump supplied and fitted would be.

    It's very hard to give a ballpark.
    The simplest way would be to put the pump under the bath & pump hot & cold going to the bath / shower only.
    TThis could involve anything from tapping into pipes under the bath or it could involve taking bath out & removing some tiles.
    IImpossible to say without looking first.
    Best bet is get a good plumber to look & give you a quote. No harm getting a few prices.
    Make sure they all are quoting for the same work, same make / size pump etc. And my personal favourite they should all be insured.
