Buckser it'll be hard enough for your fella to find some French friends in Galway without you insisting they have to be celebrities as well. Whats wrong with him meeting some normal run of the mill Frenchies? Has he got delusions of grandeur? Is he Le Ponce?

Blue Note, Club Arus and Roisin would have a few French people in the weekends. Hang out there and see if you meet them.

Two of my flatmates are French, and there's quite a few more here (Corrib Village).

There are a bunch of French people staying in Kinlay House hostel .. or at least there were a month ago when I moved out of there. Go hang out in the lounge and see who you meet.

There must be a decent scatter of French people in Galway. Was at a birthday bash for a French girl I know in Massimo's a few weeks ago and there must have been over a dozen French people there that live in town.

The Gourmet Tart Company on Henry St. They sound French anyway! ;)

Also check out Alliance Francais...Think they meet at the Bridgemills

Pretend to be a student and join the French society in college.

There's a french guy I know in his 30's who's in college and lives near me,

also I tried to find work(and failed) in France and lived iN belgium for 7 years and have fluent french, I was surprised by how many French people are around. Most of them have flawless Irish accents from years spent here.

There's a good number of French people in Galway - it seems to be a popular place to come live for a year or more to improve one's English. I work at a hostel, so a lot come through. Don't know where they hang out specifically though - my french friend can be frequently be found at the Blue Note or Roisin, but most of my Irish friends can generally be found at the Blue Note or Roisin for that matter (basically, any of my friends that smoke). Perhaps Amnesty Cafe if he's of a more left bent (don't know if the Sarkozy-ites of Galway are flocking there).

Damn Frenchies are destroying Galway, I don't eat cuisine De France, I only eat Freedom fries and never touch volvic or French wine and I've been know to ram a few Puegeots and Renaults off the road in my times aswell let me tell you!
