Just watching the new series of Robin Hood on BBC1 tonight. Dear god, what were they thinking? Acting, camerawork, direction, story, all crap. It hurt to watch and I was really looking forward to this :( I'm upset now and going to go out and have a few beers so I can forget this ever happened.

Personally, I think I would have served the BBC better if they had of saved themselves the however much that cost to produce and put on a rerun of Maid Marian and her Merry Men.

Managed only five minutes of it. Worse than the Irish game.

I only saw the promos which suggested something wicked this way was coming, anyone here old enough to have seen the late 70s version with Richard O'Sullivan? Proper tea-time telly! :)

edit! I'm an idiot. O'Sullivan starred in another series about an olde English chancer called Dick Turpin. :o

The promos made it look good and because if them i was kinda looking forward to it. (Im a big fan of any Sci-Fi/Fantasy setting material)

But this was a joke, It looked more like a cheap kids program then the usual drama/action productions that the BBC can make....... very poor indeed

I was looking forward to this after the success of the remake of Doctor Who, but what a pile of crap, very dissapointing. the casting is terrible he doesn't have any resemblance to a real Robin Hood and his side kick looks like he's just another Hollyoaks reject.

In the first fight seen, the father looks about 2 years older than the daughter.

Will give it a few eposides before my final decision but I'm not very impressed so far

the acting was nearly as bad as fair city, maid Marian was just very plain taught she was meant to be sexy. it reminded be of a bad porno film. robin hood looked like he could be scared in the dark could do better myself with a home movie

Far too LotR for my liking....especially the theme tune, and I thought that they'd tried too hard to copy the camera work style of LotR as well (with horrible results).
I'm sorry, but Hungary looks nothing like England.
I did think Keith Allen's sheriff was good...but most all the rest of the acting was sub-par for BBC drama and the scripting wasn't much better.

Still beat watching the Cyprus game though

I actually used to love it when I was younger! :o

That was so bad. Especially the part where Marian threw her hair pin and the camera took about 7 different shots of the one still in her hair.

It was being billed up as the next big thing for BBC with coverage all over the place but Jesus it was the biggest pile of sh*t. Best line was "Robin its archers" or something along those lines to which he replies "Lets give them something to shoot at" followed by the worst attempt at trying to make a sceane dramatic.

After that I turned the bull off!!

Didn't see it but the question I have to ask is: did it have the Clannad tune of Robin (the Hooded Man)? Because then it'd be great despite everything else.

Also why did the guy with the arrow standing pointing it at him for about a min just looking at him???

Also the rip off from Robin hood the film where he fires the 2 arrows at the same time. Stupid!!

it wasn't very good, not as strong as Dr. Who, both script and acting were questionable, but what kind of a point is that: he didn't look like robin hood? were you the real robin hoods stylist or something. :D

It's getting a beating in the press too. I didn't see it. But reading some reviews doesn't make me want to go out and watch it either!

I watched it in the company of my six year old son. He enjoyed it and I didn't dislike it to the same extent as other posters.

It's Saturday evening family entertainment before Celebrity Come Dancing, after all. It's not trying to be Scorcese.

Looks like Robin Hood beat Ant and Dec in the ratings by over a million viewers.

But that will surely drop next week.

The continuity screw ups may be due to some of the tapes getting stolen, they did'nt recover all of them so had to do some reshooting by that time that was done they may have been stuck for time to do a decent edit!

Its all about presence on screen, to make a story believable. That Robin Hood was supposed to be back from the crusades, he looked more like he was just after doing his junior cert with a bit of bum fluff around his face

Unfortunately not...the theme tne is the nearet thing you could get to the score of LotR without actually just using the score from LotR.

That one on ITV years back used to be a great show...

Doesnt explain why the script was woeful

: did it have the Clannad tune of Robin (the Hooded Man)?
Man I really hate that song.

Was it as bad as that american made version a few years back (maybe 10 years ago)? where they used modern slang, in one episode they ate what looked like burgers and in another robin and tuck met an alien?

Mel Brooks version ruled! ;) The series with Misty Rowe not the movie Men in Tights.

    How Maid Marian should look
