Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Using a camper van for an event next week and wont have access to a campsite or mains power . . can anyone advise a suitable generator to help with additional power and what should I be asking for at the hire company.

    What do you need to run? Whats the event. Petrol generators are often banned due to the fire risk and generators in general often banned due to the noise. In general you'd be looking for a 'silent' or 'suitcase' generator for a camper but it obviously depends on what you're running.

    We are doing a race around Ireland we will be looking for power to charge 2 way radios lights showers phones a laptop that kind of stuff.
    We dont envisage being able to plug into mains anywhere on the trip .
    Does the leisure battery charge off the main battery / van whilst camper is being driven ?

    Electric shower? What size?
    Add up your max. load of appliances in watts.

    Find a genie that can produce this figure +30% in VA.

    Keep a resistive load on the genie at all times like a 60W incandescent or electric heater or something. If you use it exclusively for electronics the regulation may drift.

    The leisure battery is usually wired to charge off the alternator when driving. Start your engine check the leisure battery voltage if it's above 13.3V it's charging.

    If you forego the shower or use gas or solar water heating as well as gas cooking you could probably run everything else off battery power or battery and solar PV.
