Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A 73-year-old town mayor has described how he rescued his son during a gang assault.

Tommy Reilly, Lord Mayor of Navan, Co Meath, managed to pull the gang of five young men off his son Ciaran Reilly during the vicious attack.

However, he said he is "disgraced by gardaí letting the perpetrators walk free."

The attack, that was captured on CCTV, shows Tommy's son Ciaran, who runs Reilly’s Londis in Navan, being repeatedly struck with glass vases and being kicked and punched until being dragged to safety.

Even without charges being pressed at a later date. A night in the clink on the day of the incident could surely be justified for this sort of carry on.

Gardai had them on the scene and released them to go torment someone else, not good, same crowd have been causing trouble in the park nearby to this shop on a regular basis. Crazy.

The town has really gone to the dogs. It's not good enough that they were allowed walk away. They're all very brave once they're in a group. Absolute scum.

Hopefully karma will catch up with them soon.

He should release the CCTV onto the internet if guards are not prosecuting
