Buses to Monaghan operate via the N2 via Ashbourne, Slane, Collon, Ardee, Carrickmacross and Castleblayney and is operated by old, smelly and unpleasant buses. The Derry and Letterkenny services listed operate direct via the M1 and Castleblayney using nice new coaches.

Ulsterbus services from Dublin do not lift for Monaghan.

Its quite a good service to Monaghan, many towns would appreciate such a good service. Other options from Dublin to Monaghan are severly limited and would involve a days travelling, ie via Cavan or Dundalk. The web fare listed on the BE website is €11.30 single and €14.40 for a day return.
