Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Much as I love this thread I refuse to believe that us oulfolk will only listen to the music of decades past and that we do love some of the modern pop beat combos too. :)

here's my bi-monthly token post to keep OG off my case for sterotyping old-folk...:p

Here's an alternative Gin for you OG....dammed good too she is...

Strange diction but it's a real hook. I imagine she's very 'marmite', you either love her or hate her. I'm going in search of more of her stuff to give it a proper listen.

It can't be classic rock unless it gets the dr.bollocko seal of approval and he's just too young to be seen posting in here. :)

Great chucken! I remember the first time I heard Queen. On a jukebox singing The Seven Seas Of Rye. Deadly! I even remember the drink I was having, the pub I was in (London) and the people I was with. One of the supergroups of all time.

I think everybody has forgotten about Russ, Winifred Atwell played a similar type of piano style in the 50's - some YouTube stuff about her too ! :D

Ravel always reminds me of Sundays....don't know why but there ya go...:)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,876 ✭✭✭Spread

Bolero it is not. Possibly because it is so solemn? Or do Sundays remind you of Ravel?

And on that highbrow note ...... Goodnight and good moaning!

Pavane pour une infante défunte (Pavane for a Dead Princess) ...yes, I think the pace of the music, the impressionistic aspect of it....it just seems to match the mood of a rainy Winter Sunday morning....it allows you to daydream or drift off...

My good lord old chap it's those damned drums. The drums you hear! they are driving me insane. Those native drums mean sure death by exhaustion.

I can't stand it any more, I am going to have to chop my own legs off, or I will dance til I'm gone.

Flogging Molly are big out here with the, er, younger crew. The music gets you going ........ a bit like Shay McGowan. Frenetic stuff. Incidentally, Fairytale Of New York is not well known - outside the Irish circle.
