Bronze Age Village - The Burren

Hi All,

A few years ago, I visited an archaeological site in the Burren. It was a bronze age village (it might have been iron age) with walls and circular houses.

We had to park on the road and walk up a long green road to get to the site. I dont remember the name of the site or its location despite an internet search. i was wondering if anybody knows what im talking about, i would imagine it was a pretty unique site, so I was hoping someone here would know about it.

My guess is you're referring to Craggaunowen? 16th century tower house beside replica crannog etc?

Thanks for your answer John.

However, it was an actual archaeological site and from what I could gather, quite an important one too. I cant find anything about it online (probably not using the correct search terms!!). You could see the outline of the stone houses aswell as some field boundaries.

Ive been looking for it online sporadically for a couple of years now with no luck. Would love to visit it again.

That I couldnt tell you Im afraid, but I dont think it was too far from the coast and possibly close to other archaeological sites aswell.

I think you might be talking about Turlough Hill in the Burren or probably Roughan Hill which is a little later but both Bronze Age villages.

Heading up to Turlough Hill wouldn't be a stroll in the park though. Its a place I've wanted to climb but to be honest it looks like a quite dangerous hike to me.
