Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Fireplace finishes

We recently had our fireplace relocated and changed from being a gas fire to an open fire. The actual place where the fire will be is just an empty space at the moment and I'm trying to figure out what I need to turn it into a functioning fireplace!

I've attached pics of how it looks now and just looking to see what I need to buy for it now?

The front of the opening is 45cm and the back is 30cm.
We got an iron piece for the front from a friend but I think it may be too small? Have attached a few pics.

That looks fine. You just need to get the grate that lifts the fuel up off the ground and draw air up through it as it is burning.

The granite surround looks like it's made from one piece. That'll probably crack when you start burning solid fuel.

No, there's a join down middle of ground piece (which u can see in the pics), and a similar join up front above the fire - is that what you mean?

Someone mentioned I might also need to get some kind of metal strips around the granite edges to stop it getting damaged?
