Restaurants for groups in North inner city .

Hi folks,

2 Questions please........

In my job, we will be hosting a group of 30 European teachers and students during the week of St. Patrick's Day/ Festival. Our Irish staff will be joining them for meals, bringing the total to somewhere around 35/40. (12 of the group will be young teenagers).

We're looking for some suggestions for two seperate places to go for food.

The first is needed for Paddy's Day itself. We're bringing the group to the Parade, followed by a walk to Croke Park to watch the Hurling and Football finals. That means we'll be around the Parnell street/ Mountjoy Square/ Dorset Street areas............We just want lunch, so nothing fancy is needed, but we're afraid of choosing the wrong pub given the day that's in it and finding ourselves in the middle of a load of drunks.

The second tip we're looking for is on Thursday 19th for dinner. Same again....nothing too fancy, (but nice too :-) but this time for dinner. This time, anywhere in the city centre will be ok, but we will be travelling back to the hotel by train from Connolly station so somewhere relatively close to there would be ideal!

Sheries on Middle Abbey Street maybe... would be handy for Connolly station.
Think they have a room that you could reserve for a group dinner.

North Star might be an option. Its directly opp. Connolly station and is a great spot

If it's for the Comenius project, we had a group over last year and for one of the nights we brought them to the Arlington Hotel on the quays for dinner and the show. We were dreading it a bit to be honest but the food was reasonably good for the price and the show was very entertaining overall. Went down very well with the whole group and it suited all ages.

One of the schools had 8 kids with them as well, between 10-12 years old and there was no problem bringing them along.

You're right mobfromcork....It is a Comenius visit........we're pretty confident in what we've planned so far.....but these two were a little beyond our local knowledge to be honest given the numbers involved and busy week in which it's all happening.....(particularly the lunch venue)....it just seems a bit difficult to get right....with all the parade crowds/ daytime drinkers and match goers filling all the pubs along the way.

Admiral - the Russian restaurant beside Clerys car park handle groups well. They will do a non - Russian menu too.

For St Patricks Day I'd avoid the pubs even around lunchtime, potentially too busy and messy

There's a big restaurant/cafe gone in where Waltons used to be just off the top of O'Connell Street/Dorset St, might be worth checking out if they're open as otherwise I'd say it'd be ideal

For the Thursday night how about Le Bon Crubbeen on Talbot st?
