Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is JSA taken into account for under 23's for the grant?

I hope this is the right place to post this as I wasn't completely sure. A friend is applying to college for next year but has been on JSA for a year now. He's under 23 and lives at home.

Will JSA affect his grant next year? He is entitled to the special rate without the payment being considered and said there is no way he could afford to go witout that rate.

JSA is taken into account but they would be better applying for BTEA if they qualify as this is worth more than Special Rate if they are on €188 per week JSA.
You don't get both your JSA/BTEA and the maintenance part of the grant. You only get one.
The total household reckonable income must be less than €22703 gross.
