Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm not a fan of gaudy inlays but I think that's really pretty. It's more artistic than other PRS inlays.

I must bring myself to Dublin and see what the deal is with Prs's.

There are amzing guitars. The build quality is amazing. The attention to deatail is unreal. There great to play the action is excellent and the whole thing is nice. But there by no means the best guitar in the world or that. But there are excellent. There quality control is 2nd to none. But you can buy just as good a guitar for 1/4 of the price of a PRS. But I must say there are great to play :)

I've never been a fan of the bird inlays but they do look nice.

Have to say I like that inlay

Might take a few minutes to persuade them to let you play one. :p They're not fond of placing 4 grands worth of guitar in anyone's hands.

I have tricks for doing that...

    "Hello, I'm feylya" *thump*

    *feylya falls down*

inlays are a waste of time....especially ****e ones like that!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 800 ✭✭✭dabhoys

But there are still amazing guitars. I love my one to bits. Just plays like butter. It spoilts ya for playing. It feels like nothing when your playing it but the tone is excellent. Unlike my les paul you have to really get used to playing them. They weight a ton and there big. Very demanding to play but the rewards are excellent :)

Hmmm, I dunno. I like some inlays like on the 25th Anniversary ESP.

But a blank ebony board? Oh yes!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 800 ✭✭✭dabhoys

There not even that fancy. You should see the Dragon one they do :)

I really don't like that dragon one.

I think my problem with PRS is the "I'm using a PRS, I've loads of money" stigma about them. Don't ask.

    I'm using a PRS and I'm broke as a joke :)

    €900 Iirc.

Poverty is so a worthy sacrifice though for such a good instrument. :) I have big hands, and I mean like shovels, so I need big frets, and though they don't look it, those PRS frets are really roomy and comfortable.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,361 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

I'm worried that this Ibanez will be too small for my hands.

If it is, I'll just sell it for a small profit :D

The frets are nice and chunky on a PRS...

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,361 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

    Dunlop 6100s.

    That is all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

You needn't worry about the Ibanez frets. They're the biggest I've ever played. They're the only ones still comfortable for me past the fifteenth fret!

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,361 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

It's really the size of the neck that has me worried...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,684 ✭✭✭david

Which neck does it have? wizard or prestige or what?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,361 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

I think it's the Prestige one. If it's a 2004 model, it is. I emailed Thomann about it but they didn't reply. Must check Music Produktiv too actually...

Nothing beats an ebony board with no inlays. NOTHING.

PRS are very nice guitars, but for that price I'd far rather go for a custom built.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

For that price I'd buy 4 J Customs tbh

    Tis very, very pretty though.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,361 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

How much are J Customs these days?

    A grand

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,361 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

    Surely you lie!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

    There or thereabouts.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,361 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

€1200 before shipping or import taxes by my estimate...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

Thereabouts then. OK, gimme three instead of a PRS :)

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,361 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

    No, I'll give you nothing!

Ahhh you give so much that you're unaware of, Fey. :p

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,361 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Well, I know I say some humorous things from time to time...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

The Prestige neck is a good bit larger than the Wizards. It's like a slimmed down strat neck almost... only nicer! :)

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,361 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Well, the J Custom neck is about a mill thicker at the nut than the Jem neck...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

Ahem... the Prestige neck isn't a neck size. Prestige just means their best luthiers have finished the neck. The guitar would have a Wizard, Wizard II, Ultra, whatever neck on it.

My 2020 Prestige has an Ultra neck, which is bigger than the Wizard afaik. No coating, just wood. It's very, very nice. :D

Well, I meant the J Custom then, smart arse.

Nothing like bare wood against your hand...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Sorry, that's what I meant. The Prestige necks on the RG's are Ultras. I assumed that was the guitar he was referring to.

You've just got to love "Rosewood w/Flame Maple Binding fingerboard" :)

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,361 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

    I prefer the "5pcs. Maple/Bubinga neck"
