Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Rust Treatment

    I did a search but couldn't see any recent or specific threads to this.

    The rear arches and base of the drivers door on my Mercedes has surface rust. I cleaned it up last year back to the metal and treated with Kurust. However, it's coming back now.

    Does anyone have a recommendation for a rust inhibiting primer or base coat that I could use in combination with a treatment like Kurust? The top coat is acrylic I believe. It's one of the store-mixed cans from Halfords. I thought about using Hammerite Red Oxide but apparently that's oil based and I've read it would react badly with the top coat. :confused:

    I use a zinc primer. It's actually a weld through and anti-rust primer, but would do the job under your normal primer. Kellys welding supplies in Tallaght do cans of them for reasonable money.

    Cool thanks. Did you have any issues with the rust coming back through it?

    I'm doing an ongoing restoration project, outdoors unfortunately. Any bare metal I threw on a good few coats of the stuff and it hasn't rusted back through yet.
