    Hi there
Trying to connect laptop to lcd tv. Only suitable output on laptop is vga as it has no s video, dvi, hdmi etc.

LCD TV has the following ports - s-video, component, composite, hdmi, scart.

Got a VGA to component cable but this did not work. Manual of one of the lcd tvs says it doesnt support vga but not mentioned in manual of my 2nd tv.

Any suggestions to get the laptop connected? Is a converter needed?

    Thanks

yes you will need a converter , which means poor video quality

best to not have to use a converter
    many TV's have VGA in
many laptops have composit out on RCA or S-video connectors
DVI just means you need a cable with HDMI

other rare options are pcmcia video card or usb video card acting as a part of the desktop
