Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So i was on the 18th floor of a building in Shanghai yesterday during the earthquake and it was scary! Shanghai isnt on a fault line so all the great sky scrapers here arent too resistant!

Talk about perspective! The gas thing was there was about 12 of us in a meeting at the time, 10 of us were ready to do a legger while 2 people were completely calm and not a bother on them.

Fortunately security had us evacuated (in the slowest evacuation i have ever seen)

So have you ever been in a scary situation and there are people like that completely calm?

School fire alarms. Teachers NEVER batted an eyelid and not once did we evacuate the building.

Had a similar experience in Sofia a few years ago, on the third floor and the building started swaying, the lights went out! (structural engineer had already informed us that this building was liable to collapes in an earthquake ), we got out pdq.

Security guard on the gound floor looks at us and laughs "what's the fuss", got his comeuppance, that night the aftershock rolled him out of bed :)

No the way it went in my school was they scheduled drills so we would go outside.

But anytime an alarm went off and a drill had not been scheduled, the teacher would just ignore it.

    Very handy that.

They were probably done the same way they were in my school.

Smokers in the toilets were always setting the alarms off, so when the fire alarm went they'd stop it and if it didn't go again, then everything was fine, but if it did go off again, everybody out!

I think Tommy Teirnan was talking about that, being in a pub when the fire alarm went off. He said people would stop, and look around, not budge an inch, and then make a joke about it: 'Is that your phone Paddy, HAHAHAHAHA!!!'
