Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I recently had a 08 Berlingo 1.6hdi fail an Nct on the emissions/smoke test. The limit was 1.5m an it read a 1.8m. Any ideas? It's a low enough mileage model and has never given trouble an always serviced on the button..no engine lights or performance issues either. It's also the 90bhp model so no DPF according tomanual

That's fairly close to passing. I would say that an "Italian tune-up" would actually be enough to get it to pass.

A good hard drive is probably all it needs do you do a lot of short gentle runs in it?

Add dipitene to it. Drive up a steep hill for about a km in 1st. Rev the sh*t out of it. Keep going until the severe black smoke stops coming out of it and it will pass the nct

No need for 1st unless you want to put wear on your gearbox and clutch.

The car has had a tame enough life to be honest. Very rarely seen over 2500rpm :)

A dpf regeneration will work wonders on the whole emissions. The heat, smoke and sparks during a regeneration are worryingly good.

    He specifically sed no dpf.

Go for run for 20 mins down the motorway. That gets them up at 3k or so

Everything heats up properly. Does wonders

I've seen the same recently with a 2008 1.6 diesel Focus and a 2009 Avensis diesel, a spirited drive did the trick, both cars were not driven on normally by their owners.
