Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Have to say this service is an absolute winner and easily the best thing RTE has ever done, just watched The Restaurant 5 star and 2 star cook-offs there because we had visitors around for both (The Restaurant being the second best thing RTEs done funnily enough), its just so handy and it works and runs perfectly, I remember the old one needed RealPlayer installed which is one of the most irritating things you can put on your pc and stuff used to only work half the time in Internet Explorer.

Just need to remove the timelimit on everything like iPlayer to make it 100% perfect.

Its pretty good alright my only grip is that I'd like a choice of bitrates, some stuff is basicly radio with pictures and could easily be streamed at half the rate while loosing nothing of value.

Isn't a bad service I must say. Watched the first two seasons of Mad Men on there, and was able to play them off my PS3. OK, the quality wasn't great but very watchable, and I can't complain about free, legal Mad Men. Some issues (such as the time bar popping up when it buffers every 15 minutes or so) but a surprisingly competent service.

That would be an illegal matter.

It's adequate no more, it's barely on par with other broadcasters. The RTE player is the absolute least they could do.

I cannot watch the RTE Player on my PS3 but can watch it fine on my laptop. Is there anything I can do to correct this as others seem to be able to use the PS3 ok? The help section of the site says that the PS3 is not supported, but as I say, that doesn't seem to be the case for many.

Probably just an issue with a plugin. Have you tried opening the site with Firefox or Google Chrome (assuming that your browser is IE).

I think the RTE player is great. Only thing is, I went on to it the other night when there was nothing on the telly, and there was not ONE program that I wanted to watch on it.

Not supported doesn't necessarily mean it wont work. It just means that RTÉ wont help you if you ask.

His problem is accessing the site on the PS3

Its still in Beta. The iPlayer or any other service were no more adequate when they started out first. The iPlayer, being Windows Media based, was actually far less to many.

I have to agree that it is a great service. Its nice to have the likes of Mad Men, Flashforward and other American Shows in the one place. Lets just hope they will get Lost and Season 3 of Mad Men on it.

It's a pity they wouldn't make it downloadable like iPlayer.

its very good, fairplay, straightfoward, but i dislike this, 'this is live' catch up so we can't have bookmarks 'lets pretend' nonsense.
sometimes still go back to the rp to watch sections of primetime etc.
