Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I voted guinness, even though I'd have voted for a weiss bier instead had it been there *hint* *hint* :)

    Guinness too.

Asuming that it is a good pint. not one of those piss poor ones that are becoming more commonplace

Since when does the taste in Food and Drink reflect the sexuality of one?

    The ;) implied humour.

You may of missed out the other part of my post which saw me saying I thought they were quite nice as well....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,975 ✭✭✭Oeneus

I know they taste nice, but that's why they're considered to be women's drinks. :)

I mean if you drink things that taste like piss your considered manly. But when you drink something that tastes nice your considered either a woman or a Poof! Why?

I get slagged off by friends in bars all the time over this. :)

"Ohhh Look, Jameth ith getting another Bailey'th, how fabulouth!"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,924 ✭✭✭✭BuffyBot

    Feck em.

That or punch them, prove what a man you are etc , then go back and enjoy the baileys :P

....mmmmmmmmm Baileys (could do with a few right now)

Have any of you tried Jagermeister and coke.mmmmmmmm.It is like one giant liquid cola bottle as in cola bottles the sweets. Really nice and very effective!

Have to say Tia Maria & milk is another tasty little number.

Shouldn't have got involved in this discussion on a Monday the temptation is too much

Well everyone is entitled to their own opinion I guess. Tis lovely stuff though, especially the Bailey's Hagen Daz ice-cream, pure sex in a tub and/or glass :P

    Hmm...Tia Maria and Milk...

Have you tried whipping the milk up beforehand, then adding a couple of tablespoons of Chocolate Ice-cream?

You've got yourself a Tia Maria Milkshake!

..."tipple" refers to strong drinks - so says the OED - so I presume that means shorts. If so, single malt Bushmills, ta.

If not, on the other hand, Budweiser Budvar? Will fall back on Guinness as an alternative, but it has to be a good pint.

    Red Wine.

But it's great the way loads of Dublin pubs have started having Erdinger Weisbrau and Dunkel on tap. Man that stuff kicks ass.

I don't know which is worse for having your sexuality questioned though a glass of wine or one of those big fancy tulip german beer glasses.

Hmm, voted other, amazing lack of whiskeys on the list.

I'd have to say Crested Ten (10 yr old aged Jameson's). It's beautiful and quite reasonable priced.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,007 ✭✭✭stevoslice

I voted Guinness, only because you cannot beat a nice creamy pint of genius, but mostly i'll drink Heineken, cause the standard is a bit more even, where as with guinness it depends on who you ordered it from.

I find, amazingly enough, that girls pour better pints than blokes do.

Prefer Whiskey and Coke myself, for 'tis a good tipple..

I'd have to say Tia Maria and milk is the business. Or Baileys.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 917 ✭✭✭Ciaran

Guinness if it's a good pint. Or, if I'm strapped for cash, vodka and a pint of water. (cue disgust!)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,783 ✭✭✭eddhorse

thats a tough one as im fond of the "bud weis er" (to be said like the frogs)(not the french) ,but guinness in certain places is also quite enjoyable

As an out all night drink Bulmers or Vod & coke.

Budweiser is a bit like sex in a canoe..
    F**king close to water.

If am on catch up then has to be double smirnoff, tequila and red bull. I know it sounds disgusting but ya have really gotta try this...

In recent times I have been more fond of Guinness. There is nothing like going out to a place that has good Guinness. But that is so uncommon, it makes it hard for me to say that I drink the stuff. Bad Guinness is like going to see a bad movie in the cinema. You have to take your chances, but most likely you will be stung :(

So failing that, I will drink Bulmers, or Smirnoff Ice

    ;-phobos-)

I used to really like Guinness. That is until I found that many of the pints I got were really bad. They literally tasted like dirt. That kinda put me off, although if I had the choice of a nice pint I'd more than likely take it.

I usually drink Miller on a night out, it is quite nice. However, the nicest beer I had was called Stella Artois (not sure I spelled that right) over in Scotland. It beat Carlsberg and Heinekin hands down, that's for sure. When I first started drinking, I drank bulmers, now I find it far to sweet. I don't like *any* kind of cider.

As for shorts, well I don't take them that often anymore, because I once promised myself I wouldn't after I was *very* very drunk. However, a few pints occasionally leads itself to a vodka (drunk neat). I also quite like a nice port, even though I've only tried it a few times I must try to get it again.

Ah yes, a subject close to my heart, after my 3 pints of Guinness in a minute stunt, and subsequent close accquaintances I had with the porcelin god, I have to say theres nothing better than a warm flat bulmers in jack meades in Waterford on a sunny sunday afternoon.

Drink du jour must be Becks, I remember for 2 glorious months in 1994 DCU served it on tap in the uni bar. Those were the days.

Try getting a Charteruse and soda water or just on the rocks, it is the strongest spirt legally on the irish market 55% with a lovely herbal/musty taste very refreshing with soda water but DONT mix with coke or any smulsh like that it would destroy the experince (and probably make you throw up).

Another one for the hard boys who fancy a dare is double baileys in a pint of carlsberg it ends up looking and smelling like cheesy beer!! If you can keep that down you deserve legandary status i did do it and kept it down, but good lord i cant even look at a baileys after that!!
