What's your favourite period piece or drama? One which encapsulates a certain era through representations of characters, social commentary, costume and use of culture and aesthetics. What's your favourite period piece or drama? One which encapsulates a certain era through representations of characters, social commentary, costume and use of culture and aesthetics.

I think one of the defining period pieces is Ang Lee's The Ice Storm, whichh is really the sum of its parts, visually stunning, performances excellent and captures 1970s suburbia America of apathy and a sense of crisis in 1970s American society brillantly.
