Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A report into a crash in Co Galway in which two Air Corps pilots were killed over two years ago has concluded that the probable cause was due to disorientation and loss of situational awareness.

The crash happened at Cornamona in Connemara on 12 October 2009. The two who died were Captain Derek Furniss, aged 32, from Rathfarnham in Dublin, and Cadet David Jevens, aged 22, from Glynn, Co Wexford.

The report by the Air Accident Investigation Unit at the Department of Transport said contributory factors included very changeable weather conditions, high speed when visibility was reduced, and the continued flight towards high terrain in deteriorating weather.

The AAIU report itself is here.

Thanks for that, gizmo - a friend of mine knew Capt Furniss.
