Any old time armorers here? question about No32 scope centering

    Hi lads, I'm building up a reproduction (fake) No4Mk1T sniper rifle.
    I have a nice TR flat sided receiver/barrel to monkey with.
    I have been going by the British Army's Armorers instructions for this.
    The first thing they say to do is to center the scope.
    To do this you set the windage and elevation drums to zero and put the scope in V blocks and aim at a distant aiming point.
    Then you turn it through 360 degrees and make sure the post point always stays on the aiming point, if it traces a circle, then its not centered and the scope must be adjusted.

    I dont have V blocks so I made my own crappy ones out of my kids lego.

    have a look at the video, I have the scope adjusted such that the post stays on the aiming point, but the whole field of view shifts as the scope is rotated.

    Is this normal? Or is my scope tube out of true? Or is it my crappy V blocks?

    I'm not an armourer but it strikes me that the main body of the scope can't be out of true if the centre stays on the same alignment while rotating.

    Lego is not a good replacement for machined mounts.

    It ended up being the OG lens, in teh repro its not prefectly concentrically ground and thus a bit eccentric.
