Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

New Cross-Border Rail Project

I read an article in the Sunday Business Post on the the 6th of July this year. I don't have a subscription online so I'm afraid I can't quote directly only what I remember. The reporter mentions in passing in an article on page 2 that the announcement of two 'significant new cross-border rail projects' was delayed by unionist MLAs pulling out of a North-South ministerial meeting. No specifics were mentioned and the article, just to clarify, was about politics not rail projects. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what these 'projects' might be?

Letterkenny to Derry and Sligo to Enniskillen?

Can you imagine the protests? ;-)

I don't think either is likely because Letterkenny-Derry was ruled out in the 2030 vision and Sligo-Enniskillen is pointless without Enniskillen-Portadown

Upgrading the Belfast line and changing the enterprise terminus back to Great Victoria St from Central?

The upgrading of the Dublin - Belfast route to an hourly service is mentioned in the 2030 plan, but would there be enough demand or even funding for this at the moment?

Nope. The only projects which fit the bill would be the refurbishment of the Enterprise and the move of its terminus back to Great Victoria Street.

I'd love to see a return of services to Donegal or Fermanagh. Both are incredibly tedious to drive to, I've done Wexford - Letterkenny before ;) . For this to work, it would have to be Intercity Dublin via Lisburn - Antrim line, as this could serve Derry too. Enniskillen - Ballyshannon - Sligo could work, although Enniskillen - Dublin wouldn't work (giving it few prospects). As was pointed out, it would need to continue onto Portadown.
