Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Bolier turning on frequently

    Not sure if it was the same last year, but I think the bolier (Bolier Ideal Classic) is going on too quickly. It seems to go on every 4 minutes and staying on for about 1.30 minutes. This with external thermostat set to 21 degrees, and bolier power set to the minimun of 1 (1-6) . Is this normal?

    Sounds like either an over sized boiler, or poor circulation, should not be cycling so much

    i was called to same issue on ideal boiler,it turned out the pump was installed wrong way around i.e on the return but pumping away from boiler!!as the pump was very inaccessible it took me quite a lot of heartache before i realised what issue was,and would have been longer only for i quizzed the owner as to work recently done etc. as something was not right,eventually he told me "oh we have had the pump changed 3 times in the last year and a half,is that normal?".so,op a little more info may be invaluable as in,is it a recent phenomenon and have u had any work done on heating,is pump running etc.

    On a classic (system) with the pump above the boiler in a 1 storey or apartment find they always burn out as cavitating being the highest point in the system

    No no work done, just didn't use much over the summer. Not sure if it was doing this before. Today I set the boiler power to 6, and it was on for about 10 minutes, then when I moved to 1, it turned off straight away. But after it started again, about 1 minute on and off for about 4-5 min.

    Sounds definitely like a circulation problem, either pump or heat exchanger restriction.

    does pressure rise dramatically when heating on? any water going out safety valve? is pump defo running?

    Not sure how to check these things, I can only see gas burning from the glass window thats it.....
    found the pressure bar (: it seems at 3 when boiler on.
    no other symptons.....

    Worse case scenario whats the most expensive part which could be faulty? Havent' serviced the boiler in the last three years, could just a service do the job?
