Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Changing gas fire

Hi all, please forgive my ignorance as I really don't know much on this subject.
I'm moving into a new house which has been built about 10 years but never lived in. There is an open gas fireplace, the gas fire isn't connected but there is a tube coming into the space it is sitting in that isn't connected to anything. The insert is black cast iron (i think) and there is a white marble surround and mantlepiece and a black marble hearth (not all one piece). I would like to get rid of the gas fire and have some sort of an insert stove in the space, but I want to keep the surround part/mantlepiece. Is this possible or would it all have to be taken out? What kind of budget would we need to do something like this? Are there any options that would be more sensible/cost effective? Many thanks to anyone who can advise on this!
