Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Gastric Bypass

A near relative of mine has struggled with their weight most of their life and is now morbidly obese for a number of years. They are approaching retirement age. Her weight has given her a number of related complications and health issues.

As a result, she are considering getting a gastric bypass upon recommendation of a doctor.

We are all worried about this. Ther person has been unable to stick to (and basically commit to) a diet for any period of time. We are unsure if it is the right decision as we are unsure if they are able to handle an invasive operation.

I'm not looking for medical advice on this, but I would like to know if anyone has gone through this (or know of anyone) and whether they think it is worthwhile in the longterm.

To me, it is not dealing with the underlying issue.
