RAM Upgrade Question

    So I have a first gen i7 few years old at this stage but still going strong. Overclocked to 3.9Ghz with after market air cooled heat sink. So that processor is triple channel RAM. So I have this RAM but problem is it is only 6 GB which was fine till now and I want to upgrade to 12 GB. This one. The 6 GB has better latency but 12 GB has better speed.

    So would you recommend me going for the 12 GB or would I try to find the same 6 GB again and double up as there is 6 sockets. Does using extra sockets slow performance?
