Does anyone know how to check the lock status on the s3

I was told to put in *#7465625# and it pops up, but it doesnt work.

I try pressing call then it says USSD Code Running.....

Then, Connection Problem Or Invalid MMI Code???

Any Ideas? I have no other sim so cant check that way.

I get the exact same error.
It also happens with other MMI codes as well. No idea why it is happening. Doesn't stop the phone from working, but its very frustrating.
I've posted on XDA forums as well and all I got for an answer is "the codes must have been disabled in that firmware release", which is a load of boll*ks.

Did you install any custom ROMS or load any other official firmware?

I had this problem until I done a full clean install of an official JB fw

Basically you need to wipe the cache prior to installing a ROM or any official firmware.

    I think its something like..

    power off

Turn on while holding the power button + home + Vol UP

This should give another menu and you scroll down to something like wipe cache.

Then you can boot into download mode. Apologies if I'm a bit vague... Tired, sleepy, bed time Zzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzz...

    Good luck though...

that code doesnt work on some networks afaik on their stock firmware...i think it was three networks it didnt.. there was a discussion about it ages ago where it didnt work on quite a few phones.

EDIT: pretty much what italia above said. some networks custom firmware has it disabled... id guess there is a 95% chance its locked on the basis that is disabled also
