Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

My shower outlet is really slow to drain now. I have tried muscleman and caustic soda to clear the outlet but iit was of no help, it takes really long for all water to drain out.

Where can i buy a diluted form of hydrochloric acid to clean the pipe and dissolve the particles?

Probably a dumb question, but have you tried a plunger? Works wonders for me, no need for anything fancy.

Has it always been like this? It may be plumbed wrong.

You can get industrial strength chemicals from Davies in Harmonstown or ABC abrasives in Newtown ind estate, in coolock.

As stated above a plunger should be the first thing you try.

the drain was superfast but it has gone bad recently only.
It's a standing shower drain, do you think the plunger will help?

I will check if we have Davies or ABC in Kilkenny city.

    I don't think there

Seriously, try the plunger. I had no idea how much crap it moved until I tried one a few months ago.

Harpic black contains that acid. I find it great for unblocking drains

Plunger should always be tried first. Too many chemicals can rot the pipes eventually but they are handy for the really bad jobs. :)

Most shower drain wastes are removable to enable cleaning. They generally get clogged with hair and other gunk.
Bit hard to explain but the circular grid on the waste should pull up, then reach in and the wee trap has a "handle" pull that straight up and the hair and gunk will be there. Put it all back together and repeat every few months.
